Radiography / X-ray
Parktown Veterinary Clinic provides in-house, state-of-the-art digital radiography, with results in minutes. Radiography is highly effective in aiding the doctor with arriving at a diagnosis. Our digital equipment boasts the most advanced technology available to provide you and your pet with the most advanced diagnostic imaging solution. This technology produces high-resolution images in seconds. The quality of the images produced is unrivaled, and is an invaluable diagnostic tool. The efficiency of this system allows us to work quickly, therefore minimizing stress caused to you and your pet. We have the added benefit of a board certified radiologist just a mouse-click away for consult if needed.
Ultrasound is a pain-free, totally non-invasive technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce a real-time image of your pet's internal organs. It is particularly useful in viewing your pet's abdominal organs including the spleen, kidneys, liver, and gallbladder. It can also be used to evaluate heart functions, bladder scans and other areas such as the thyroid glands, testicles and mammary glands.
Ultrasound also works well in conjunction with other diagnostic tools and a wide range of diagnostic procedures. For example, if an X-ray shows a lesion on your pet, an ultrasound can determine the origin of the lesion and whether it has spread elsewhere in your pet's body. Using the ultrasound image as a guide, surgical biopsies can be obtained without major surgery and your pet can often go home the same day.
Benefits of a Digital Machine Include:
- High Definition Technology allows us to get a crystal-clear, razor-sharp image of bone detail and soft tissue distinction.
- Rapid Exposure cuts the waiting time, we are able repeat exposures in less time.
- Two-Way Table Float makes it easy to position larger patients.
Parktown Veterinary Clinic uses modern ultrasound technologies and is up-to-date on the latest ultrasound-assisted procedures. While we have ultrasound available in-house, in certain complex cases we can call in a board certified specialist in order to gain timely specialist consults.
